WHAT SORT OF HOME OFFICE FURNITURE SHOULD YOU PROVIDE?
As an employer you still need to ensure that DSE requirements are met in a home working environment. You also need to ensure that work can be done effectively and in a professional way. There are many different home office furniture solutions on the market – so which is best? It depends on the space your staff have available at home and also the work they need to do. For best results we recommend that a designated room is made available but this is not possible in all cases.
There are a few different approaches that employers are taking to the working from home question. Some are providing a budget and allowing their staff to choose what they feel is best. However some employers are concerned that this approach may result in home office furniture set-ups that are not compliant with DSE. Consequently they would rather provide a standard set of furniture for their staff to use at home. Lastly there are some who are opting to do nothing and their staff have to do what they can. This seems a short-sighted approach and could result in much higher costs in the future.
HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE SIT-STAND DESKS FOR HOME
There is an increasing awareness of health and fitness issues and ergonomics in particular. The benefits of sit-stand desks are clear – they allow a standing posture and also a bespoke desk height for seated work. In recent years prices have steadily been reducing as volumes have increased, therefore prices are now a lot keener than most people think.
We are very keen on height-adjustable desks and have many different options on display (and in use) in our working showroom. Prices for electric sit-stand desks start at around £350 plus vat.
We have a 5000 sqft office furniture showroom at our Head Office in Havant, Hampshire, which displays many desk ranges and also other office furniture products.
WHAT OUR VISITORS SAY.
‘’Visiting Spectrum’s large showroom we were able to see and evaluate the furniture they had put forward for our project. This gave us a lot of confidence in the quality and also value of their proposition.’’

TASK CHAIRS FOR HOME OFFICE WORKING
The task chair is probably the most important element of a good home working set-up. When you are working from home you are less likely to move around as much as when you are in the office. Consequently it is even more important to have a good ergonomic posture and also to set reminders for regular screen breaks.
We recommend Herman Miller task seating because they are all excellent ergonomically and also elegant in design. However we can also offer many other ranges of operators and task chairs to cover all styles and price points. You can browse some of our other task chair options HERE.
