In a series of interviews with Spectrum Workplace, companies consider the changing requirements of both the business and the employee.
The interviews have been brought together as a report and published by DECISION magazine and then as a digital book.
Interview with IAN KILPATRICK EXECUTIVE VP CYBER SECURITY NUVIAS GROUP
NO MATTER WHAT a company does to its working environment, there’s something essential which needs to be preserved. According to Ian Kilpatrick, executive vice president of cyber security at Nuvias Group, the international market-maker and value added distributor, there’s no substitute for having people “mingling around the water cooler.”
“We’re in a high-value knowledge area with people who have high expectations, so we need to invest in the working environment and make it fun and interesting and challenging for people, an environment where they want to stay to develop and progress.”
“One of the key challenges for us at Nuvias is attracting individuals who see challenge and knowledge as really important. Being a trusted advisor for our partners, and by definition their customers too, means that staff are always having to learn and get close to the edge of their comfort zones. That fits a certain type of person and we have to try to deliver the right working environment to support them.”
