WORKPLACE DESIGN OF THE YEAR WINNER 2025.
We’re proud to announce that Spectrum Workplace has won Workplace Design of the Year at the South Coast Property Awards 2025, held on 12 June at the Hilton Utilita Bowl in Southampton.
This prestigious black-tie event, organised by The Business Magazine – South East, brought together over 300 professionals across the regional property, design, development and construction sectors. With categories judged by a panel of respected industry leaders, the awards celebrate innovation, excellence and meaningful impact across the built environment.
For Spectrum, this marks a significant milestone in our 50-year history. As one of the leading and most trusted office fit-out and refurbishment companies, it is imperative to always uphold our standards to the highest echelon. We've always prioritised our clients and the quality of our delivery, and to win this award is a proud reflection of that commitment.
THE WINNING PROJECT: GEN II FUND SERVICES HQ, WHITELEY
Our submission for Workplace Design of the Year centred on our recent project for Gen II Fund Services – a full office design and fit-out of their new UK headquarters in Whiteley, Hampshire. Gen II is a global leader in private equity and real estate fund administration, and it needed a space that could reflect both its reputation and its evolving culture.
One of the fundamental struggles that was presented by Gen II was its inability to connect two separate teams. Our expert designer, Caroline Roles, was tasked with tackling that head-on and unifying the business. Our challenge was to design a space that was not only practical and flexible but also uplifting, people-focused and reflective of a modern, high-performing financial services company.
STRATEGIC. COLLABORATIVE. DESIGN.
Working closely with Gen II's leadership and operational teams, we were able to understand their ambitions, workflows and workplace culture, something Spectrum Workplace embodies. This level of consultancy informed every stage of the design process – from spatial planning and furniture selection to the final details of branding and functionality.
MORE THAN JUST A WORKPLACE
What made this project stand out to the judges was the way it captured something beyond function, "whilst design is subjective, there could only be one winner. Stylish, modern, and funky were adjectives used to describe this entrant."
Every design decision was made with intent. The result is a space that energises staff, supports teamwork and enables high-quality client interactions – all while aligning with Gen II’s long-term vision for growth.
We also ensured the space is future-ready, with adaptable layouts and technology integration that allows for evolution as the company continues to scale.
A MILESTONE FOR SPECTRUM WORKPLACE
WINNING WORKPLACE DESIGN OF THE YEAR IS A HUGELY REWARDING MOMENT FOR OUR TEAM.
“As a third-generation, family-run business, we’ve never chased awards – we’ve always focused on looking after our clients. This was our first-ever submission, and to win on the first try is both a surprise and a huge honour.”
Joshua Fidler, Managing Director
The success of this project reflects the expertise, creativity and passion of our entire team – including Caroline Roles, Dominic Williamson and Dan Murrey – as well as the support of our trusted suppliers and contractors.
