DO YOU NEED BUILDING CONTROL APPROVAL FOR A COMMERCIAL FIT OUT PROJECT?

One common question that clients have is whether building control approval is needed before a fit out project starts. Or putting it another way - will my fitout work need to comply with building regulations. The answer is that it is very likely that you will need to get sign off from building control for any works. We normally deal with Building Control, the fire officer and other authorities on your behalf.

WHAT HEALTH & SAFETY REGULATIONS NEED TO BE COMPLIED WITH?

If you are doing an fit out or refurbishment project then there are a number of health and safety regulations and risks that need to be considered. The main one to be aware of is CDM Regulations (The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015). As the Client you have specific legal duties that must be carried out if you are having any construction work done.
