Liquid Friday

Relocating and transforming the workspace of an award-winning accountancy practice to a waterside headquarters.

Our project with Liquid Friday involved relocating the business into a more compact office environment. This required a careful, considered approach to space planning and workplace design. As a fast-growing organisation operating within the financial services and contractor payroll sector, Liquid Friday needed a workplace that would maximise efficiency within a reduced footprint, while still delivering a high-quality environment that reflects its culture, brand identity and people-first ethos.

From the outset, the ambition was to create a workplace that felt open, stylish and highly functional despite the constraints of a smaller space. The design approach focused on making intelligent use of every square metre, ensuring the new office supported both focused individual working and collaborative team interaction. Spatial planning was critical in achieving a balance between density and comfort, enabling the business to operate effectively while maintaining a sense of openness.

A key focus of the project was improving the overall employee experience within the new workplace. The design introduced a more modern and relaxed working environment that better reflects the company’s culture and the expectations of its workforce. A strong emphasis was placed on creating an office that employees enjoy spending time in, supporting both day-to-day productivity and longer-term staff satisfaction.

Collaboration was also central to the design strategy. The workplace layout was carefully arranged to encourage communication between teams, with clearly defined zones for teamwork, informal interaction and focused work. These spaces help to foster a more connected working culture, supporting the fast-paced and service-driven nature of the business.

A contemporary material palette was introduced to elevate the aesthetic quality of the space, combining clean lines, modern finishes and subtle brand integration. Glass partitioning was used to enhance transparency and natural light penetration, helping to reinforce a sense of openness throughout the office while maintaining necessary acoustic separation for focused work and meetings.

A key feature of the project was the creation of a high-quality teapoint and breakout area, designed to act as a social hub within the office. This space provides employees with a relaxed environment for informal meetings, breaks and cross-team interaction, playing an important role in supporting wellbeing and workplace culture.

The design also prioritised functionality and practicality, with upgraded furniture, improved amenities and carefully considered spatial arrangements that support the operational needs of the business. Every element was designed to enhance efficiency, from desking layouts to meeting room provision and circulation routes.

Delivered within an operational business environment, the project required close coordination to ensure minimal disruption during the relocation and fit-out process. Careful planning and phased execution enabled the successful delivery of the new workspace within tight programme constraints.

The completed office now provides Liquid Friday with a modern, efficient and brand-aligned workplace that maximises the potential of a compact footprint. It supports collaboration, enhances employee experience and reinforces the organisation’s identity within a competitive and fast-moving sector.

Overall, the project demonstrates how intelligent workplace design and careful relocation planning can transform a constrained space into a high-performing and engaging office environment that supports both people and business growth.
